Personalizedelegance

Founded by Luca Maselli in 2015, Masel began as a contemporary take on an Italian epitome. With roots stemming from Italy’s sartorial and silk traditions and innate elegance, Masel ties and pocket squares were created to be completely customizable, from the client’s choice cut of fabric to the monograms and personal inscription. Thus, a Masel tie is more than a tie; it is a lasting momentum.

With the exceptional quality of the Italian silk found around Lake Como, to the traditions of the extraordinary craftsmen, a Masel piece is an everlasting and meaningful addition to the chic man’s wardrobe. Determined to propel Italy’s exceptional craftsmanship traditions into the future, Masel interweaves the country’s history and tradition with that of international taste and creativity. In 2016, Masel leather goods were introduced with the same unique approach. Cut from Italian nappa leather and handmade by a supremely talented craftsman in Trieste in the northeastern corner of the country, Masel bags are completely customisable. Clients choose from 30 shades of leather, more than 50 choices of linings, several zipper and stitching choices, and are given the option to add their monogram, hand-painted on the leather.

Classic, stylish, and lightweight, the bags and cases are the definition of ‘Italian chic’. Masel is a ‘Made In Italy’ company in the truest sense of the expression. The company seeks out ‘next generation’ artisans with great, undiscovered talent, encouraging emerging craftsmen to carry on Italy’s reputation as a country of excellence in design and fashion.

Outside of Italy, Masel partners with small, unique, and talented designers on capsule collections, such as Nackymade eyewear, based in Kobe, Japan. With an ever-opened perspective and eye towards fresh yet smart design, Masel continues to grow, take elegant chances, and represent genuine artisans capable of creating bespoke items for the client who seeks style, personalization, and grace. Masel hosts sporadic trunk shows at the boutique for these collaborations and capsule collections.

In June 2017, Masel opened its first flagship boutique in its home city of Milan, where clients can work one-on-one to create Masel products and view the collection in person. Also on display are braces, gloves, and small leather goods, as well as Masel’s Signature Collection ties, a line of ties designed by founder Luca Masel. ‘These pre-designed’ ties have a sartorial finishing and are available in a variety of fabrics, such as cashmere, grenadine/shantung silk, and silk combined with other natural fibers, such as linen, cotton, and wool.

Boutique appointments are encouraged.

Italian traditions for the next generation

Luca Maselli

Milanese style is historically aligned with timeless elegance and artisanal perfection. After a few years spent in banking, Luca Maselli found himself more interested in carrying forth the traditions of bespoke Italian craftsmanship with a revitalised flavour and contemporary approach. This is how Masel was born, a concept that begins with personalisation and exceptional quality. Luca works one on one with both the Italian artisans and their storied skills and the client, who has his or her own personal style to represent. "Italian style is more than the first glance; it is the quality of the fabric, the nearly invisible stitches, the subtle differences in one cut of leather or another. It is the details that you do not notice at first glance but for which the wearer and the artist take great pride. And hidden beneath it all is an inscription or a monogram that make it yours and only yours."
